Tuduhan rasuah Musa, Zulkifli bukti blog melampau - Nazri

UtusanOnline

Kemajuan T'ganu-K'tan macam dipisahkan 'tembok Berlin' - ZAM

Lagi..

Kelebihan Bulan Rejab

Cabinet Nod For Nuri Replacement
The deputy prime minister, who chaired the weekly cabinet meeting today, said he had informed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who is currently on leave, and his cabinet colleagues on the need to speed up the replacement programme in the interest of the country.
"And they've given their approval," he told reporters here.
Najib, who is also Defence Minister, said the cabinet agreed that the procurement of the new helicopters be done through international open tender to be called in the next few months.
The cabinet decision was made in the wake of the Nuri helicopter crash at Genting Sempah, near Genting Highlands, on Friday which killed its six airforce crew members.
Najib said the Nuri replacement aircraft were likely to be delivered within the next three years and until then, the RMAF would continue using the US-made Nuri helicopters.
He added that the type and specifications of the new aircraft would be determined later.
"Hopefully we won't have to deal with another Nuri accident (pending the arrival of its replacement)," said Najib.
He said the Nuri was still safe to use and had proven effective in carrying out its daily tasks.
The wreckage of the helicopter was found five kilometres northwest of Genting Sempah at 1.24pm yesterday. It was reported missing at about 9.35am on Friday, 10 minutes after taking off for Kuantan from the RMAF air base in Sungai Besi here.

Najib, who is also Defence Minister, however, said the phasing out was not possible in the near future.
"Nuri helicopters are still air-worthy. Nevertheless, there are plans to replace them, but not immediately as they can still be used," he told reporters after attending a "leader-with-the-people" gathering.
Najib was responding to reports that a Nuri helicopter, with six air force crew on board, was missing while flying from the Sungai Besi base here to the Gambang base in Pahang yesterday.
The transport helicopter, carrying air force personnel to replace their colleagues at the base in Gambang, near Kuantan, lost contact with the air base control tower at 9.35am, 10 minutes after it took off from the Sungai Besi RMAF base.
The Nuri was scheduled to reach its destination at 10.25am but failed to appear.
Asked whether the services of Nuri helicopters would be suspended following the incident, Najib said it was up to the RMAF to decide.
On the search and rescue operations to locate the helicopter, he said the ground and aerial search have been intensified.
"As of noon, the search is still going on. The helicopter has not been found as the area is covered with thick forest," he added.
The search was intensified at first light this morning, with three RMAF aircraft scouring the area around Genting Sempah, near Genting Highlands, where the helicopter last appeared on the radar.
The police, Fire and Rescue Department personnel and 100 soldiers from the Bentong-based Royal Malay Regiment Camp have been deployed for the ground search.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 12 - The Attorney-General made the decision to close the graft case against Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Johari Baharum because he was satisfied that there was no need to prosecute him.
“If the AG has come to such a decision, it is because he is satisfied that thorough investigations have been carried out and he finds there is no need to proceed with a prosecution,” Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said on Thursday.
Najib also pointed out that in the Malaysian judiciary system, it was the AG who had the final say on whether a case should be brought to court.
On Johari’s statement that his life had not be peaceful since the allegation surfaced that he had received RM5.5mil bribe to release several criminals detained under the Emergency Ordinance, Najib said: “I hope he is now relieved.”
Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail ordered the ACA to cease its investigations on Johari after the agency was unable to find any statement to link the deputy minister to the alleged offence.

MALACCA, July 4 - Anyone who wishes to use the name “Malacca” in anything must now first get the green light from the state government.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam said that the state’s name was not something that anyone “play around” with as Malacca was a sovereign state.
“Malacca is the state where Malaysia’s history started and it is a civilised and developed place. We are the pride of the country and also known on the international platform,” he told newsmen after chairing the exco meeting here Wednesday.
The Chief Minister was commenting on a reader who wrote in to a newspaper saying that instead of protesting, the state government should be proud of the name “Melaka Virus” as it involved a lot of research to discover it.
“Who suggested it? Ask him to use his name. Simply using the state’s name means disrespecting the state, so if the person wants it so much, use the person’s name,” said Mohd Ali.
He said the state executive councillors had already recorded their disappointment that the name Malacca had been used in such a way, but thanked Health Minister Datuk Seri Chua Soi Lek for his willingness to have the name changed.
“I have suggested the name virus kelawar (bat virus),” said Mohd Ali. theStarOnline

Mahkamah tolak saman fitnah Anwar terhadap Mahathir
0 Comments Published by TasekPauh Blogspot on at 10:06 PM.Malaysia's Anwar loses bid for showdown with ex-PM
KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) Juky 4 - Malaysia's de facto opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim, lost his bid on Wednesday for a legal showdown with his old enemy, former premier Mahathir Mohamad, whom he tried to sue for defamation.
The decision was a setback for the former deputy premier in his quest to get even. Mahathir sacked Anwar from government in September 1998 in a chain of events that landed him in jail.
Anwar criticized the ruling, saying it was a "gross injustice" to him and his family.
"I am compelled to say that this decision is utterly devoid of any legal merit," he said in a statement. He said he would appeal the decision.
His lawyer, Sankara Nair, called the decision "most disappointing, most puzzling and unexpected."
In his suit, the 60-year-old Anwar said that his former mentor, speaking at a September 2005 news conference in Kuala Lumpur, had described him as a gay man who could be a threat to people if he became prime minister.
Mahathir's lawyer said his client had a defense of justification and qualified privilege in describing his deeds as prime minister. He had asked for the case to be dropped.
"The application is accordingly allowed," High Court judge Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat said in a verbal judgment.
The suit follows a string of unsuccessful attempts by Anwar to bring Mahathir, 82, to court since being sacked as deputy premier and finance minister and serving six years in jail on what he has said were trumped up charges.
Anwar was freed in 2004 after the courts quashed a sodomy case against him. However, a conviction for corruption bars him from holding political office until April 2008.
Malaysians watched Wednesday's hearing keenly, since the country's judiciary has sided with Anwar in previous rulings.
In August 2005, Anwar won a judgment of $1.2 million against author Khalid Jafri over a book that accused him of fathering a child out of wedlock, among other things. DNA tests showed the child was not his.
The same month he won an apology from a former police chief for beating him in custody in 1998 and giving him a black eye.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 - The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has been ordered to immediately withdraw its letter barring private broadcasting stations from airing the opposition's speeches.
Energy, Water and Communications Minister Datuk Seri Dr Lim Keng Yaik said he wrote the letter to MCMC Tuesday and the order was effective immediately.
"It is not our policy to ask them to write a letter to ask the broadcast stations to stop airing opposition's speeches," he said at a press conference in the Parliament lobby on Tuesday.
Dr Lim said he did not know of the MCMC letter initially as he was overseas, hence the late response.
He said he only found out about it after reading it in the newspapers and learning of the motion to debate on it in Parliament.
MCMC chairman Dr Halim Shafie had issued a letter dated June 7 to private TV and radio stations requesting them to stop broadcasting speeches by leaders of opposition parties.
The Commission is an agency under the Ministry and had a say in the issuance of licenses for private TV and radio stations.
Dr Lim said MCMC could have construed that airing opposition speeches via recordings was wrong since Parliament proceedings were still not telecast live.
However, it has been a norm for both public and private TV stations to air clips of the proceedings during news segments or on RTM's Parlimen Hari Ini programme.
"The first thing I did was to investigate what happened. Whatever the reason, MCMC should not have issued the letter as it is not in line with our policy," he added. theStarOnline

Muslims Need To Understand Al-Quran Holistically
The Deputy Prime Minister said whenever someone mentions the word Al-Quran or does something relating to the Al-Quran, it means he or she has shown an affinity or love for Islam.
"The Muslim's way of life is guided by the teachings contained in the Al-Quran and as such, anyone who enlivens the Al-Quran whether by reading, studying, appreciating or practising what is contained in the holy book, then he or she has endeavoured to uphold the teachings of Islam," he said at the closing of the Wanita Umno's Quran Reciters Assembly and Nasyid Competition, here today.
Najib said the Al-Quran is a comprehensive, compact and accurate guide to life and it is mandatory for Muslims to be convinced that the holy book is a constitutional guide to life in the present world and hereafter.
"It is true that understanding the contents of the Al-Quran is not easy. Even those who can speak or understand Arabic will also find it difficult to understand it," he said.
Also present at the function were Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob, Pahang Wanita Umno head Datuk Maznah Mazlan and chairman of the Pahang Wanita Umno Religious Bureau Zaleha Hussin.

Najib to find out more details on allegations against IGP
PEKAN, July 1 - The Deputy Prime Minister’s office will find out more details on allegations that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan accepted bribes and of his alleged involvement with underworld figures.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said he was not aware of the postings on a website involving the country’s top police officer.
“I don’t know about the allegations. Let me check,” he told reporters after attending the ground-breaking ceremony of the Universiti Malaysia Pahang’s permanent campus in Kuala Pahang, near here, yesterday.
On Saturday, Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Mohd Johari Baharom was quoted by a local Malay daily as having said that the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) was free to investigate Musa over the allegations.
He said ministry secretary-general Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusoff would monitor developments.
Mohd Johari added that he too had been investigated over allegations of accepting RM5mil in bribes to release three men detained under the Emergency Ordinance.
The ACA has since completed investigations into Mohd Johari’s case and submitted its findings to the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
On a separate matter, Najib said he hoped all Umno divisional meetings would proceed smoothly.
He said he was optimistic about this, based on recently concluded branch meetings which had gone on uninterrupted in accordance with the party’s constitution.
“We hope that there will not be any unpleasant episode that requires the Umno disciplinary board to take action,” he said. theStarOnline
