Siti Nurhaliza Not Ready To Join Politics Yet
SHAH ALAM, Feb 9 (Bernama) - Popular singer Datuk Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin will continue to be active in singing and is not ready to be involved in politics yet.
"A lot of people have asked me when I would be joining politics but for now I want to concentrate on singing. Not the right time yet," she told reporters after handing aid to a children's home, Rumah Kanak-Kanak Ini Disayangi (KIDS), here Tuesday, in her capacity as the Jaya Jusco Foundation's ambassador.
She said although she was not planning to enter politics, she would continue to support certain political or government activities.
"I will continue to give my support... I've always attended and joined functions organised by the government. That's my support," she said.
She was asked to comment on a report that she was planning to be active in politics and was cultivating her interest in the field.
"Maybe some people thought that I was interested in politics after seeing my husband and I going down to the grassroots and handing out aid to the people," she said.
On the setting up of the Nur Jiwa Foundation by her and her husband, Datuk Khalid Muhammad Jiwa, Siti said she was happy with her welfare work besides her career as a singer.
On her role as Jaya Jusco Foundation's ambassador, she said would continue to honour the appointment as it was not in conflict with her Nur Jiwa Foundation activities.
