Somalia: A famous warlord returns to the capital

One of the former US backed warlords Musse Sudi Yalahow has landed at Mogadishu’s main airport on Saturday after nearly six months absence from the capital. He was one of the US backed anti-terror alliance defeated by Islamic Courts union in early June last year.

Yalahow reportedly from Malaysia was well received at the airport by his relatives at the airport.

He said he was not ready to talk with the press, promising he would hold a press conference in Mogadishu.

At least three prominent warlords have returned to the capital since Ethiopian and government forces took control of the capital Mogadishu two weeks ago.

The government disarmament plan was delayed after local tribal elders and intellects met with premier Gedi over the disarmament plan.

Last week premier Gedi said, the warlords may return to their homeland but they would not be allowed to arm themselves and recruit militias.

Qanyare, a warlord, who talked with local radios, said he did not intend to rearm himself.
