US soldiers kill 16 innocent civilians in revenge attack

March 5 - US soldiers opened fire on innocent bystanders after a suicide bomber struck an American convoy in eastern Afghanistan and then deleted footage of the incident taken by reporters to destroy evidence of the atrocity.

Associated Press reported that US soldiers at the scene deleted photos taken by a freelance photographer working for The Associated Press and video taken by a freelancer working for AP Television News.

US military authorities are investigating the event that took place Nangarhar province in which no American soldiers were injured.

Stone throwing protesters shouted "Death to America, Death to Karzai" as they clashed with the local police.

US military officials asked media personnel not to report that it was the American soldiers who shot and killed the innocent civilians citing such news reporting could cause rioting in other towns and cities across Afghanistan exacerbating an already deteriorating security situation there.
